Oppo is used to churning out A-series mid-rangers like there's no tomorrow, and the next installment in the series will be the A77s, which rumor has it should launch in India very, very soon. It was seen in leaked renders a few days ago, when a lot of its specs were also outed. Now, it looks like someone in possession of a prototype decided to have it run Geekbench, and you can probably imagine what ensued - there's a record of its run in the benchmark's database, and as usual that reveals (or rather, in this case, confirms) a couple of specs. Surprising no one who's read our...

Google tests reactions to SMS messages from iPhones

Last month, Google launched a campaign called #GetTheMessage that aimed to convince Apple to support RCS messaging on iPhones. Google’s call to action didn’t do much, seeing as just less than a month later, Apple CEO Tim Cook told a journalist that he should buy his mom an iPhone in response to his inability to send high-quality videos to his mom’s Android phone. Google’s efforts to improve messaging between Android and iPhone users (or annoy iPhone users even more) is apparent with the latest feature being tested. As spotted by Reddit user u/Jabjab345, Google Messages app is testing the...

WhatsApp Call Links are the easiest way to jump onto a call

Today WhatsApp announced the debut of Call Links, a brand-new feature that's pretty self-explanatory. You can create a link to a call, and people you share the link with will then be able to jump onto that call by just clicking or tapping said link. This works for anyone on WhatsApp, even if they're not in your contacts - the main caveat here is that they do have to have WhatsApp themselves, otherwise they won't be able to join your call. That's all there is to it really, but the fact that it's simple doesn't mean it's not very useful. Of course, a call link is nothing new in the...

vivo confirms that the X80 Pro+ was canceled, as we turn towards waiting for the X90 Pro+

A few weeks ago we learned that vivo was gearing up to unveil the X80 Pro+ in September, however, those plans were met with unexpected delays. We’re almost into October now and still no Pro+ in sight, so we spoke to a company representative just after the vivo X Fold+ launch. They gave us the bad news – the vivo X80 Pro+ has been canceled. Well, “bad” is relative since the next generation is almost here. The vivo X70 series was unveiled in early September 2021, then in late April 2022 came the X80 series. It’s time for the X90 models to arrive. The vivo X80 Pro will remain as the top...

Apple won't be holding an October event for Macs and iPads, analyst says

According to a renowned Apple analyst, Mark Gurman, the company doesn't have enough products to hold a dedicated event in October, so it might have decide to launch them with separate press releases instead. The Cupertino-based firm believes that a couple of press releases spaced apart are more effective than a full blown at this point in time. It's not the first time Apple chooses to do so. Apple has previously unveiled new products with press releases outside of the core iPhone lineup. And there aren't any rumors or teasers coming out of Apple regarding an October event. Gurman...

Rumored Pixel 7 specs show little deviation from the Pixel 6

Where has the year gone? The Pixel 6 was announced in mid-October 2021 and now its successor is just around the corner – but if rumors are to be believed, it will be nearly the same phone. The Pixel 7 will feature the new Tensor G2 chipset, which will bring some important updates to the GPU, NPU, modem and other hardware, basically everything but the CPU. It probably won’t post headline-grabbing test scores, but it will offer hardware acceleration for Google’s software, which is more important to the Pixel experience. As for the rest of the phone, leakster Yogesh Brar posted a...

The teaser also confirms a Dimensity 920 chipset, which raises some questions. In theory, the Mediatek chipset has an ISP that supports 20MP + 20MP dual cameras or 108MP single cameras, meaning the...

Top 10 trending phones of week 38

Week 38 still saw one of Apple's latest smartphones on top of our trending chart. The iPhone 14 Pro Max is still a runaway leader, but its stablemates have all lost ground with the iPhone 14 Pro losing the second spot to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The first more solid rumors about the OnePlus 11 Pro sparked enough interest to put the still unofficial phone in fourth, ahead of the returning Galaxy S21 FE. We then have the Galaxy A53 in sixth to make it three Samsung phones in the top 10. The vanilla iPhone 14 is down to seventh, while the 14 Plus is out of the top 10 entirely....

The case for the earbuds is square and unlike previous versions, the color on the outside matches the one on the inside. There are three color options...

Weekly poll results: Motorola Edge 30 series shows a lot of promise

Last week’s poll shows that Motorola is on the right path – the Edge 30 trio received a mostly warm welcome, with people showing a preference for the flagship Ultra and a liking for the Fusion. It is really only the mid-range Neo that’s in the red (and even then the positive and negative votes are nearly even). We’ll start with the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra. If you’ve missed them, check out our written and video reviews. One important thing to note is that Motorola has addressed one of the biggest criticisms against its phones – software support. Firmware updates on the AirPods are usually delivered when they are charging and in the Bluetooth range of your iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and there's no standard way to install the updates manually, so you'll have to wait till the update arrives on your...

Apple iPhone 14 in for review

In a world without an iPhone mini, the vanilla version is the new cheapest model from the core series. Meet the iPhone 14 - the smallest and lightest iPhone in the 14 lineup. Unlike its Pro siblings, it has a wide notch and A15 chipset. Compared to the iPhone 13 it comes with better cameras, autofocus for the selfie shooter and a slightly more powerful GPU. And while we are working on its review we thought we might share a few early impressions. Our unit is in Blue color, which is a hue similar to what the iPhone 13 Pro had. We are having a hard time finding any visual differences...

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra certified by 3C with 25W charger

Samsung’s Galaxy S23 series is slated to arrive early next year and one of the lineup models has just passed through 3C certification in China. The corresponding model number SM-S9180 denotes the highest-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra model. In the certification, the device is listed to support a maximum of 25W charging (11V @ 2.25A). This is lower than the Galaxy S22 Ultra’s 45W charger support, but if we recall – the S22 Ultra’s 45W charging didn’t make a significant dent in the charging times compared to the 25W charging of the Galaxy S21 Ultra. JRGRAPH_EXPANDABLE_VERSION = false; ...

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 bears all in teardown video

Earlier this month, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 was put through some grueling 'durability testing', comprising of scratching, burning, and (trying to) bend it, and while it did survive and kept functioning, there was some weirdness - popping noises came out when it was bent backwards, and then it wouldn't fully close anymore. That's intriguing for sure, which is why the very same Zack from the JerryRigEverything YouTube channel is at it again, this time disassembling the same unit that went through that test, trying to find the cause of those pops. It's all on video for your viewing...
