The Google Pixel 2 and its bigger brother, the Pixel 2 XL, are officially nearing the end of their life cycles as they have disappeared from the company's store. This shouldn't come as a surprise given the fact that the phones were released back in October 2017. The past few months saw several discounts on the second gen Pixels, foreshadowing their imminent retirement. With rumors pointing to the looming Pixel 3a and 3a XL launch, this makes perfect sense for Google. Japan Display rescue plan confirmed: close to $1B for making OLEDs

Japan Display, Apple's largest LCD supplier, has confirmed that it will accept an investment close to $1B this week, in order to boost its OLED production capacity. The investment of reported $720M comes from an outside investment group (rumored to be State-backed Chinese Silkroad fund) with a further $270M coming from a refinanced agreement between JDI and the Japanese Government. Oppo VP Brian Shen posted full-resolution camera samples from the Oppo Reno. Well, 12MP photos at least, the phone is supposed to have a 48MP main sensor (likely a Quad Bayer). Shen says these are straight from the phone with no post-processing. Xiaomi shipped 1 million Mi 9 units, 1.5 million if you include the Mi 9 SE

The Xiaomi Mi 9 has shipped more than 1 million units worldwide. The phone launched in late February, so it hit this milestone in about a month. When it comes to security updates, Samsung's Android-powered devices roughly fall into two categories - ones that get monthly updates and ones that get a security patch once every three months. LG's V50 ThinQ 5G will go on sale in Korea on April 19

LG will start selling the V50 ThinQ 5G starting with its home market of South Korea on April 19. The company's first 5G phone will cost KRW 1.19M (€940/$1,060) for the sole available 6GB + 128GB model. LG V50 ThinQ 5G units bought before May will get a bundled Dual Screen accessory that's normally worth KRW 219,000 (around €172/$193) for free.
