It's a never-ending rat race this, keeping your phone's software up to date. Phone manufacturers have become more responsible about providing security updates, but they can still be uncooperative when it comes to bringing you the latest and greatest from Android. iOS users have it easy - Apple supports its gadgets for years, even after they have outlived their useful lives.
