Reviewer/News writer

The reviewer/news writer is a person who is responsible for creating the reviews and news content for our website. As such, you would be covering hot industry topics, as well as helping us develop new content areas and broaden our news coverage.

You would also be conducting various technical and usability tests and comparisons and even partake in video demonstrations. We would expect you to turn all the raw data and observations into a written review in a clear, concise and engaging manner.

You will not be alone in this endeavor. Producing content for GSMArena.com is a team effort so you will be working in close cooperation with your peers and superiors.

The position is ideal for people who are good at writing (and love it) and have a keen interest in mobile technologies. We value scrutiny as much as creativity and objectivity.

We expect the following minimum:

  • Native English speaker.
  • Previous experience in writing for publication or demonstrable writing skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting our (arguably reasonable) publication deadlines whatever it takes.
  • Web research skills.
  • High level of computer software proficiency.
  • Basic image editing software skills.

Videographer/Video host

With our new focus on creating high-quality video for the web, we are keen to expand our video production team with new team members and we have openings for both a videographer and a video host or anything in between.

The ideal candidate will be someone who loves standing on either side of the camera and someone who knows their way around producing video content for YouTube, including tracking video performance and promoting video content on social networks.

As a videographer, you will be tasked with producing creative product hands-on videos in studio or on location outdoors. You should be able to edit the video footage creatively and see through the entire process of its online publication.

As a host, you don't necessarily need a grasp of the technical aspects of shooting videos, but you should posses a strong presence in front of the camera and you should be able to turn our news and reviews into engaging video content. You should helps us shape and adopt our very own style for product review videos. When you are not busy with that, you would be recording voiceovers for similar videos or you will discuss various hot tech topics from the mobile industry on camera.

We've only recently started exploring the potential video content holds for presenting our work and it's still largely open to interpretation. You would have substantial creative freedom and you would be in a position to influence the direction and format of our YouTube presence.

Best of all, your work will reach a wide international audience through the already popular GSMArena.com YouTube channel.

Ideally, we are looking for someone energetic who can really own this content area and see through its expansion and development.

  • Previous experience in shooting and editing video or in hosting video productions or in recording voiceovers for video.

  • Experience in leading creative projects.
  • Proficiency in operating a camera, studio lighting and photography gear.
  • Proficiency in creative video editing.
  • Proficiency in voice acting.
  • Experience as a video host or with standing in front of the camera.
  • A personal YouTube channel on any subject.
  • Keen interest in gadgets and tech in general.

Graphic Designer

We're looking for an experienced Graphic Designer who can help us raise the bar in the graphic layout and in improving the way we use graphics.

We expect someone who will support our news writers, review editors, and photographers in the graphic aspects of the website content production.

You will be tasked with creating quick layouts, collages and templates throughout the day as needed but we would also expect you to provide creative direction on the type and style of graphics used by our contributors for the stories to be visualized beautifully while reinforcing the overall visual style of the website.

You should be able to produce inspiring and effective designs and layouts for the website front-end from concept through finished art with little direction from management by translating concept designs into effective visual communication.

We expect the following minimum:

  • Native English speaker.
  • 3+ years of graphic design experience and demonstrable project portfolio.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to meeting our (arguably reasonable) publication deadlines whatever it takes.

We would favor candidates who also possess any or all of the following:

  • Keen interest in gadgets and tech topics.
  • Above average digital photography or photography editing skills, experience with digital photography workflows and art direction for a photo shoot or a video production.
  • High level of computer software proficiency.

Proofreader

The proofreader is responsible for proofreading and sub-editing all the articles we publish.

You should have keen eye for detail and even an aptitude for writing yourself. We expect you to proofread the texts produced by our writers throughout the work day and we will rely on you to make sure the articles are coherent, consistent and that they adhere to our style guide.

Once you get used to the topics we normally cover, you would be required to fact-check the articles as well.

We expect the following minimum:

  • Native English speaker.
  • Attention to detail and web research skills.
  • High level of computer software proficiency.

We would favor candidates who also possess any or all of the following:

  • Experience as a proofreader, blogger, technical writer or a similar role.
